F1 says Sprint weekends generate 12 percent more viewership, while 75% of attendees believe they add value to their tickets.
Earlier this morning, the 2027 F1 calendar was released. The championship will keep its 24-race calendar, but increase the number of Sprint weekends from six to ten.
That is a 67 percent increase in Sprint events without adding any new race weekends.
You know where my mind immediately goes: the commercial logic, and it’s pretty straightforward, so I won’t belabor the point.
More sprint races give F1 more broadcast inventory, more sponsor exposure and more premium content to sell across the same 24-event calendar.
For promoters, it also creates more opportunities to package hospitality, fan experiences and weekend-long entertainment. More competitive sessions mean more content and more opportunities for partners to activate around the event.
Sound off 🔇 what do you think about more sprints?
